Retirement Lifestyle Planning Considerations
Retirement Lifestyle Planning Considerations
When a person retires their life, as they know it becomes drastically different, unless they have undergone retirement lifestyle planning. People often times put a lot of time, thought and attention into the financial aspect of their retirement, but fail to take into consideration just how different their life will be. Retirement lifestyle planning can prepare people for these changes.
The first consideration that needs to be accounted for in retirement lifestyle planning, is primarily a mental thing: how will the person adjust to change. Having a plan on what to do when the person suddenly feels lost will help alleviate the stress. Just as plans are made on how to deal with situations, creating and balancing goals needs to be a part of the retirement lifestyle planning. To keep them stimulated, the pursuit of another career or schooling should also be included in the retirement lifestyle planning. If the person retiring has an estate, the retirement lifestyle planning phase will also help them decide how and what to do with their estate, as well as address any potential or existing legal issues.
Retirement lifestyle planning should also take personal, spiritual and emotion health and make it part of the plan. Will the retiring person have a good social support network, or will they have to seek out support? Where will they live? Will they be living alone?
Retirement lifestyle planning can avoid stagnation and provide a smooth transition from the working life to their hard-earned life of leisure.
